First race meeting for Collieston’s St Ayles Skiff at ScottishTraditional Boat Festival
Following an exceptional 3rd place in the Men’s Sprints on very lumpy seas, in addition to an admirable 6th place in the women’s sprints, Collieston Redsocks were awarded Best Newcomers and outstanding 6th overall out of twelve competing skiffs, whilst our good friends in Portsoy came in 8th. We bring home our first silverware and have set a precedent for things to come. Thanks to everyone involved in the final push to get Admiral Redsocks to Portsoy this weekend and to everyone who turned up to row and do us all proud.

Admiral Redsocks Launch, Sunday 22nd June at 2pm, Collieston harbour…
The newly built CORC boat, which will sport a black hull, is to be named Admiral Redsocks , after one of Collieston’s most famous and colourful residents, the late Rear Admiral Steve Ritchie.
It’s all hands on deck to prepare for the launch, which will hopefully see the naming ceremony carried out by one of our village ‘originals’.
Following the launch, there will be plenty of opportunity for anyone interested to have some taster rowing trips about the harbour.
This will then be followed by a ‘Sausage Sizzle’ at the Community Centre, or beach if weather permits.
Prepare to Party!
The long awaited opening night for the schoolhouse and hall refurbishment is this coming Saturday – 17th May. Everyone is invited to come along and join the fun. There will be some entertainment and a glass of fizz, but contributions of a plate of food and your own drinks would be appreciated. Please pass the word that all are very welcome. Starting at 7pm, should be a good night!
A big thank you from Wikke
