Remembering VJ Day
You are invited to watch a tribute to mark VJ Day tomorrow 14th August, taking place at 7pm on Braehead.
Pipes and Drums will play Battle’s O’er- the official VJ day song – followed by a selection of other music.
Collieston and Slains lost six servicemen in the 1939 – 1945 conflict Private James Bruce 2nd Gordons, Driver John Duthie RASC, Gunner Frank McWilliam RHA, Sgt Charles Soang, RAF, Private Willian Watt, 2nd Gordons and Able Seaman William Webster, Merchant Navy.
We will remember them.
Raising money for The Fisherman’s Mission
Next Tuesday, 11th August, a fundraiser for the Fisherman’s Mission will be calling in at Collieston as part of his round Scotland kayak tour. Why not come and give him a welcome to the North East? More details of timing to come later.
Jack’s Scottish Kayak Tour: Supporting the Fishermen’s Mission
VE Day Salute – Friday 8th May
A tribute will be played by pipes and drum at 7pm on Collieston Pier, followed by a wreath laid on the sea.
People are invited to watch from a safe distance, and to join in singing “We’ll Meet Again” after the wreath is laid.
