The Collieston Action for Teens (CATS) is a group for young people between 12 and 18 from Collieston and Slains. It was set up in 2005 with the support of two local youth workers from the Ellon Young People’s Project. It was formed by a group of Collieston teenagers who felt that there were few activities and amenities for their age group in the village. It aims to give young people a voice and an opportunity to organise and raise funds for their own activities.
The group is currently not active, however if any parents and/or children are interested in starting the group up again, please get in touch by e-mailing colliestononline@yahoo.co.uk
The Coastal Café began as a means of providing supported work experience for local young people, and a means of generating funds. The Café has been very successful, winning Aberdeenshire’s Community Safety Award, the Inspiring Aberdeenshire Award as well as visiting Holyrood to be presented with Saltire awards from the First Minister.
