The Collieston Action for Teens (CATS) is a group for young people between 12 and 18 from Collieston and Slains. It was set up in 2005 with the support of two local youth workers from the Ellon Young People’s Project. It was formed by a group of Collieston teenagers who felt that there were few activities and amenities for their age group in the village. It aims to give young people a voice and an opportunity to organise and raise funds for their activities.
The group is currently not active, however, if any parents and/or children are interested in starting the group up again, please get in touch by e-mailing colliestononline@yahoo.co.uk
The Coastal Café began as a means of providing supported work experience for local young people and a means of generating funds. The Café has been very successful, winning Aberdeenshire’s Community Safety Award and the Inspiring Aberdeenshire Award, visiting Holyrood and being presented with Saltire awards from the then First Minister.
