One of of the favourite and popular events of the gala calendar, the SandCastle Competition never disappoints. Children and familes have been know to practice in the weeks leading up to make sure they make a perfect entry on the day.
This year water and moats were popular between entries, with some pipping water through buried hose or drain pipes from the water source near the boat ramp into the castle moats, while others had dry moats (reflecting perhaps the general dry summer seen by alot of the country).
Seaweed, stones, sticks, flowers and much more was scavenged from the beach area for decoration, along with flags and other homemade items brought along.
Judging these masterpieces is always hard, but our judges this year selected 3 for special awards, with everyone else also getting a small prize and sweet from the Community Council.Â
A big well done not only to everyone young and old, toddler, parents, grandparents and friends that particiapted but also our brave judges.
